FUSION22 & FUSION24

Accelerating fusion’s journey to the grid

Fusion energy is one of the most exciting challenges facing scientists and engineers today, but through our work with UKAEA in the early 2020s we could see that awareness outside of academia and the emerging industry remained limited. We needed to open the conversation, raise awareness, connect sectors and create momentum around fusion as a credible, investable solution for a clean energy future.

  • Approached UKAEA and a group of fusion leaders from the private and public sectors with a concept and strategy for an event and associated campaign.

  • Delivered branding, messaging, content creation and curation, venue and supplier sourcing, event production, and an online platform that facilitated virtual attendance for attendees and international speakers.

  • Worked with a network of amplifiers to extend reach through partners including UKAEA, Tokamak Energy, First Light Fusion, ITER and Assystem.

  • Applied cultural framing to make complex energy topics accessible and inclusive, with Still Curious founder Bex hosting a panel on fusion fairness and energy justice.

  • FUSION22 at The Science Museum was the first major outward looking fusion event, bringing together policy makers, investors, supply chain, adjacent industries and a variety of stakeholder groups to inform them of the challenges and opportunities associated with getting fusion on the grid.

  • FUSION22 and the subsequent FUSION24 positioned the UK as a leader in both fusion R&D and the creation of ‘the business of fusion’.

  • Connected 1,500 in person and online participants from 20 countries, fostering global cross-sector collaboration.

  • High-profile voices on stage, with 33 speakers from organisations including ITER, U.S. Department of Energy, MIT, Tony Blair Institute, University of York, EUROfusion and the Environment Agency.

  • Mainstream visibility achieved, with coverage across the BBC, The Times and the Financial Times.

  • Delegates reported inspiration and actionable insights; FUSION22 and FUSION24 have shifted conversations from awareness to concrete collaboration.
