Building a connected, engaged and action-driven infrastructure ecosystem with i3P

The challenge

Infrastructure Industry Innovation Partnership (i3P), run by Innovate UK, brings together leaders from across the infrastructure and construction sector to drive collaborative, transformational innovation.

While the ambition was clear - to accelerate progress across low carbon, productivity and safety - the challenge was engagement. Members were operating in a complex, information-heavy environment, with limited time and increasing content overload.

i3P needed a clear, compelling brand and communications approach that would:

  • Cut through the noise and deliver real value to members

  • Encourage greater knowledge sharing and collaboration

  • Strengthen member engagement and attract new members

  • Position i3P as a driving force for innovation across the sector

We developed and delivered a strategic brand and communications programme to support the relaunch of the i3P membership platform and drive ongoing engagement.

Brand & Strategy

  • Conducted stakeholder interviews and brand consultation sessions to understand perception, challenges and opportunities

  • Delivered audience analysis, brand positioning and engagement journey mapping

  • Defined objectives for the brand refresh and created a clear design brief

  • Developed a refreshed visual identity, brand guidelines and core asset templates

Content & Communications

  • Created a strategic content and communications plan aligned to i3P’s three Investable Agenda themes: low carbon, productivity and safety

  • Produced regular, high-quality content across LinkedIn, newsletters and website

  • Captured content at i3P events, producing brand and event highlight films and short-form video featuring member voices

  • Built a bank of photography and evergreen assets for ongoing use

  • Developed Canva templates and enabled the team to self-serve content post-project

Community & Amplification

  • Encouraged member contribution through calls for case studies, success stories and insights

  • Curated relevant content from members, industry bodies and external sources

  • Created toolkits to enable members to amplify i3P content across their own networks

  • Delivered ongoing reporting and optimisation to refine performance and engagement

The impact
  • Increased member engagement and participation, with strong response to content requests and positive feedback on visibility

  • Strengthened collaboration across the ecosystem, with increased interaction both online and at events

  • Built advocacy across client and supply chain audiences, driving increased interest in i3P membership

  • Delivered strong LinkedIn growth, including:

    • +47.9% new followers

    • +76% page views

    • +310.4% increase in reactions

    • +23.8% increase in comments

  • Most importantly, a more connected, engaged and active i3P community - better equipped to collaborate, share knowledge and accelerate innovation across the UK infrastructure sector.
