STRIDE

Creative and Digital Industries Knowledge Exchange Programme

Stride Barrier Breakers

The challenge

Stride, backed by the London Boroughs of Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark and Wandsworth, exists to increase diversity and inclusion in the creative and tech industries - connecting underrepresented talent with opportunity.

The challenge was to design and deliver a scalable, engaging and inclusive knowledge exchange programme during COVID, so we had to pivot from in person to virtual and hybrid where possible.

We created Barrier Breakers, an virtual event series connecting changemakers, creatives and innovators through a dynamic digital platform.

Platform & Programme

  • Designed and delivered a branded virtual platform with integrated registration, CRM, networking and feedback functionality

  • Built a virtual control centre combining live and pre-recorded content

  • Delivered a mix of formats including keynotes, panels, roundtables, workshops, Q&A, polling and breakout sessions

  • Managed end-to-end delivery including registrations, scheduling, speaker training, rehearsals and live production

Content & Curation

  • Led programme strategy, editorial and content creation informed by stakeholder consultation

  • Curated accessible, engaging sessions that made complex topics more accessible

  • Seeded Stride content into wider industry platforms including London Tech Week and Black Tech Fest

  • Encouraged user-generated content and audience participation

Community & Experience

  • Created an inclusive, human-first tone across all communications

  • Tackled important topics, including diversity and representation across industries

  • Designed opportunities for networking, collaboration and knowledge exchange

  • Connected creatives, startups, councils and partners across the ecosystem

The impact
  • Brought together diverse communities across public, private and academic sectors

  • Delivered a scalable, high-quality virtual event platform with lasting value

  • Enabled strong cross-borough collaboration and knowledge sharing

  • Drove high levels of engagement through interactive formats and community-led content

  • Built an inclusive, trusted space for underrepresented talent

  • Sparked new collaborations and partnerships beyond the event series

  • Created a vibrant, connected community and a sustainable platform that continues to support diversity, innovation and opportunity across London’s creative and tech sectors
